Mission
We are a partnership between students, parents, teachers and our community of quality instruction through a safe and secure environment which supports and promotes a passion for learning, celebration of diversity, self-confidence, openness, and democratic principles.
History
  • Prairie Norton Elementary  was built in 1951

  • An addition was built in 1956

  • It originally housed students through 8th grade

  • It is named for Prairie Township and Norton Road where it is located

  • The school was a community center where the Prairie Players drama group presented community plays; it was also used for community basketball games

School Information
  • Prairie Norton houses grades kindergarten through 4

  • Enrollment is approximately 700 students

Faculty Information
  • There are 30 teachers, 17 classified staff members, and one administrator at Prairie Norton

  • The average classroom experience of Prairie Norton teachers is 15.62 years.

  • 16 teachers have bachelor degrees and 17 have master degrees or beyond

  • Staff has received special training in the following: Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), site-based decision-making, classroom management, cooperative learning, reading nonfiction, and math and science instruction
